Section 02

About SnapMyFine

SnapMyFine is a technology company registered in the UK. We are not a law firm, claims management company, or financial institution. We are a technology platform that helps drivers manage Council PCNs more efficiently.

The Service is designed to help you:

  • Understand the details of a Council PCN through automated OCR scanning

  • Track payment deadlines: the 14-day discount and 28-day challenge windows

  • Decide whether to pay or challenge a fine based on information we provide

  • Submit payment for a PCN securely through Open Banking infrastructure

  • Draft an appeal letter for submission to the relevant Council or adjudicator

Section 03

Eligibility

To use the SnapMyFine Service, you must be at least 18 years of age, be a UK resident or using the Service in connection with a UK-registered vehicle, have legal authority to act in relation to the PCN, and agree to these Terms in full.

Authorised representatives

Where you are acting as an authorised representative of the registered keeper or driver, you confirm that you hold written or email authority from that person to manage the PCN on their behalf. SnapMyFine may request evidence of that authority at any time.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a business or organisation, including to manage PCNs across a fleet or multiple vehicles, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms and that a responsible individual has been designated to oversee use of the Service.

Section 04

Your account

Registration

Certain features of the Service require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep that information updated at all times.

Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of any unauthorised access.

Account restrictions

You may not share your account with any third party, create multiple accounts for the same person, or use another person's account without their express permission.

Section 05

Our services

PCN scanning and interpretation

The App uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to read the details of your PCN from a photograph. We extract information including the issuing Council, reference number, contravention code, fine amount, and payment deadlines.

Deadline tracking and reminders

Where you have provided a valid PCN, the App will calculate and display applicable statutory deadlines. You acknowledge that it remains your sole responsibility to act on any deadline.

Payment facilitation

SnapMyFine facilitates payment of Council PCNs on your behalf through Open Banking infrastructure. We act as a payment initiation service only and do not hold your funds at any point.

Appeal assistance

The App provides guidance on whether common grounds for appeal may apply to your PCN. Where applicable, we assist in drafting an informal challenge or formal representation for submission.

Section 06

Payments

Payment initiation

When you instruct SnapMyFine to pay a PCN on your behalf, you authorise us to initiate a payment from your connected bank account to the relevant Council. This authorisation is specific to the PCN and amount you have confirmed and does not give SnapMyFine any ongoing access to your bank account.

Open Banking

Payments are processed through FCA-regulated Open Banking infrastructure. We do not store your bank account credentials or card details at any time. Upon successful payment you will receive a digital receipt within the App.

Payment cannot be reversed

Once a PCN payment has been successfully initiated through the App, it cannot be reversed by SnapMyFine. Payment is generally treated as acceptance of the charge. Seek independent advice before making payment if you intend to appeal.

Pay Later

Where a Pay Later option is available, you may schedule payment of a PCN to be initiated on or before the applicable statutory deadline. The following terms apply:

  • You remain responsible for ensuring sufficient funds are available in your nominated bank account at the time of the scheduled payment.

  • SnapMyFine will send you a reminder notification no later than 24 hours before your scheduled payment date. It remains your sole responsibility to ensure your account details remain valid and funds are available.

  • If a scheduled payment fails for any reason, including insufficient funds, a closed account, or a revoked Open Banking authorisation, SnapMyFine shall not be liable for any resulting late payment penalty or fine escalation.

  • You may cancel a scheduled payment within the App at any time before the payment is initiated. Once initiated, payment cannot be reversed.

  • If a statutory deadline passes because a scheduled payment was not successfully processed, the higher penalty charge will apply. SnapMyFine strongly recommends confirming successful payment within the App after the scheduled date.

Section 07

Appeal assistance

Challenging a PCN may remove your right to the 50% discount

If your informal challenge is unsuccessful and you choose to make a formal representation, the discounted payment rate may no longer be available to you. Consider this carefully before choosing to challenge.

Nature of appeal assistance

SnapMyFine provides appeal assistance as a technology-enabled drafting tool, not as a legal service. The guidance and draft letters generated by the App are based on publicly available information about common PCN appeal grounds under the Traffic Management Act 2004.

No guarantee of outcome

SnapMyFine does not guarantee that any appeal submitted using our Service will be successful. Appeal outcomes are determined solely by the relevant Council or independent adjudicator. We have no influence over, or relationship with, any Council in connection with appeal decisions.

Your responsibility

  • Review any appeal letter generated by the App before submission

  • Ensure the content of your appeal is accurate and reflects your genuine circumstances

  • Submit the appeal to the correct Council within the applicable time limit

  • Retain copies of all correspondence with the Council

Section 08

OCR technology and accuracy

The App uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to extract information from photographs of PCNs. While our technology achieves an accuracy rate of 85% or above in controlled conditions, we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy in all cases. Factors affecting accuracy include image quality, lighting conditions, physical damage, and the format used by different Councils.

Always verify before acting

You must always verify the information extracted by the App against your original PCN before taking any action, including making payment or submitting an appeal. SnapMyFine shall not be liable for any loss arising from reliance on inaccurately extracted information without verification.

By submitting a photograph of your PCN, you confirm that it is genuine and unaltered, and relates to a vehicle for which you have authority to act.

Section 09

Fees and charges

The SnapMyFine App is free to download on iOS and Android. No subscription fee is required to access core features of the Service. Certain premium features or services within the App may be subject to a fee, which will be clearly displayed to you before you confirm use of that feature.

When facilitating payment of a PCN, SnapMyFine may charge a small service fee in addition to the Council's penalty charge. This fee, if applicable, will be clearly disclosed before you authorise payment. Service fees are non-refundable once a service has been delivered, except where required by applicable consumer protection law.

Section 10

Your data and privacy

SnapMyFine takes your privacy seriously. The collection, use, and storage of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions and is incorporated herein by reference.

We collect and process personal data solely for the purpose of providing the Service. We do not sell your personal data to any third party. You have rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].

PCN photograph deletion

Photographs of PCNs submitted through the App are processed for OCR extraction and then deleted from our servers within 30 days unless you have saved them to your account.

Section 11

Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the SnapMyFine App, website, and Service — including software, design, text, graphics, logos, and trade marks — are owned by or licensed to SnapMyFine. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the Service.

You must not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent, or reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App.

Section 12

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SnapMyFine shall not be liable for any increase in a penalty charge resulting from a missed deadline, any unsuccessful appeal outcome, any loss arising from inaccurate OCR extraction you failed to verify, or any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive loss.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the total amount of fees paid by you to SnapMyFine in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.

Your consumer rights are protected

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited under applicable UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Section 13

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SnapMyFine makes no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that information provided will be accurate or complete, or that any appeal will achieve the outcome you desire.

Independent verification of all information extracted or generated by the App is strongly recommended before you take any action in relation to your PCN.

Section 14

Termination

Termination by you

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the App from your device and closing your account. To request deletion of your account and data, please contact [email protected].

Termination by SnapMyFine

SnapMyFine reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, provided false or misleading information, used the Service for any unlawful purpose, or engaged in conduct that could harm SnapMyFine, its users, or third parties.

Effect of termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 11, 12, and 16, shall continue in full force and effect.

Section 15

Changes to these terms

SnapMyFine may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, applicable law, or our business practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. The most current version of these Terms will always be available within the App and on our website.

Section 16

Governing law and disputes

These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of London.

If you have a complaint or dispute regarding the Service, we encourage you to contact us in the first instance at [email protected] so that we can attempt to resolve the matter informally. If we are unable to resolve a dispute informally, both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of London.
